For a Few Dollars More

Making the final table at the World Series of Poker Main Event is hard. Only nine players did it this week, out of 8,569 who entered. Other tournaments can feel as hard, even with fewer entries.

That's why we felt very satisfied Monday night to make a final table in the nightly freeroll at National League of Poker. We haven't played there much recently, because the money isn't great. But we have time to do it right now - and it took about three hours to reach the final six, out of 420 entries.

As you may have guessed from our picture, the players at the final table earn money in the freeroll. Only those six do. But as we said, the money isn't great. The "50-dollar cash freeroll" has a total prize pool of $50. The winner received $15. We only lasted one hand at the final table, and collected two bucks for sixth place. In a WSOP event with several hundred players, we would have earned about 12 times our buy-in.

But this was our first NLOP cash win since February 2015. And we had a few moments when we were able to write "PTL" after winning big pots. You know what that means.... right?

Praise the Lord. Praise, O servants of the Lord, praise the name of the Lord. - Psalm 113:1

We're praising God with thanks, even for small financial blessings. Two dollars can make for a nice fast-food lunch.
