Keep in mind that if there are five players left and two players are eliminated on the hand, the eliminated player finishes 4th and you get 5th. Example, A and B fold. Player C (5000 chips), Player D (4000 chips) and you (3000 chips) go all in. Player C wins the hand. Player D finishes 4th and you get 5th. Players A, B and C fight it out for 1st - 3rd. I bet that's what happened to you.
